So you’re a Saint… Now what?
Dear Saints, firstly allow us to thank you for taking a chance and believing in our vision. Your investment in MOAF doesn’t go without notice (especially the first one!). It is a leap of faith, and we thank you! Our dream is to make the Mornington Peninsula THE PLACE to birth and raise children. We are nurturing a revolutionary way of mothering, full of supported mothers and families, and we acknowledge that it will take a collective effort to make this happen.
The intention of this guide is two-fold.
1. To prepare you for MOAF by crossing the T’s and dotting the i’s. We aim to cover all legalities and set expectations for the day.
2. To enlist you in helping build the momentum that we think is necessary to spread the word. As a group, we have over 60,000 instagram followers… so you can imagine the power of our message if we all shout it from the roof tops.
You will receive your site number in a separate email a week prior to MOAF, but otherwise this guide should cover everything you need to know about the day.
-
As mentioned above you are part of a REVOLUTION, a long awaited revolt to the sacrificial mother and the superwoman who can do it all. Of course we can do it all, but why would we want to and why should we have to.
Here at Saint Majella we want empowered, connected and supported mothers and families. Thriving together in a modern day village. That village is you!
The Mother of all Fairs looks to be the first of many community gatherings that will make supported motherhood a real life reality for the Mornington Peninsula mothers and parents. The one-stop shop to meet their village and invest in themselves.
In the spirit of the day we welcome our Saints and the attendees to show up in full individuality, vulnerability, curious to learn from and mingle with your local community. MOAF is a safe space for you to be uniquely you. All are welcome in the Saint Majella tribe, exclusive mums clubs have no space here.
-
The Mother of all Fairs is a first of its kind, which naturally means we need to educate families on what exactly this event will entail. We want to reach the widest audience of mothers and their families so this is where YOU can help.
In the lead up to the fair we will be tagging your business instagram. This is both to promote you, our Saint, and also for you to reshare the post to reach your followers.
We would appreciate any and all tagging of @SaintMajella and #moaf. There will be story and post graphics sent to you via instagram for you to use in your promotion of MOAF. Feel free to also create your own to talk about your own offering and tag us so we can reshare. Thank you for your support in this. With your help we can make a supported motherhood a NORMAL motherhood.
-
As you will know, alongside MOAF you have also signed up to be a part of our virtual village. Included in your Saintship of MOAF your business will be proudly promoted in the Saint Majella online directory, the modern day motherhood Rolodex.
The directory will be live at the time of MOAF and is the core of this supported motherhood. This whole idea was spawned from this: an accessible and reliable resource for mothers to find and connect with professionals (YOU!)
Note: We are still awaiting many official Saint Sign ups (descriptions of your service) and included photos, if you have not completed this please do so, without this we can not upload you to the virtual village. Find link here
If all goes well with MOAF we are planning to host 2 x Motherhood fairs each year and 2 x Birth and Pregnancy. The plans for the birth fair in 2024 are already in motion, with incredible guest speakers in waiting (we can't wait to tell you who!!) With this in mind, some of you will be suited to also be a Saint at the birth fair. If this is something you don't want to miss out on, please let us know and we will keep you in the loop.

The first MOAF will take place on Saturday the 7th October 2023, at Rosebud Memorial Hall.
Saints are invited to arrive from 8am-8.30am, with the aim of your space being complete at 8.45am SHARP. The public arrives from 9am and doors will shut at 3pm. You can enter from the main doors to set up for the fair. Your space will be identified with masking tape on the wooden floor and a label with your business name/name on it. Trolleys are allowed in the hall until 8.45am and after this time equipment/stock should be carried on foot for safety reasons.
Please note that we would like all spaces to be set up by 8.45 to give the best impression to our first entrants! At 8.45 (or earlier if you are organised) feel free to head over to the coffee van and enjoy a morning brew! 9am the fair opens!
MOAF is set out to be an amazing community with a huge wealth of experience in a variety of services so never be worried about asking questions or for a hand as we are sure your fellow Saints are only too happy to help.
Presentation is not only essential to your success as a Saint but also to MOAF as a whole. Make your space shine and stand out with your set up. Take your time and practice your presentation at home using interesting color and texture to make your space unique. This will give you the very best chance of being approached and talked about long after the market.
Make sure your business name is clearly displayed and you have business cards available for Mothers and families to take away. This is a great way to broaden your customer base. One of the best things about being at MOAF is that you are your own walking, talking advertisement. You can interact directly with your customer which will give you invaluable feedback on your products/services so be open to hearing customers opinions and process them to make your business grow and develop.
The closest ATM to MOAF is Bendigo Bank and ANZ across the road. If you are still interested in having your own mobile payment device we recommend using Square.
Having a price clearly visible helps customers feel comfortable about whether your products are in their price range or not. Believe it or not, many customers are embarrassed to ask the price of items as they think it may be out of their budget. Showing them up front can be a pleasant surprise!
If you have any fantastic sales or discounts please send them through to hello@saintmajella.com before the fair so we can help you promote them on social media. Another great idea to capture return customers is to offer specials or discounts after purchase. This can be as simple as a card slipped into our show-bag with a discount for future purchases. Our show-bag will be given to the first 150 entrants. Get in touch if this is something you’d like to include.

Rosebud Memorial Hall has a Main Hall and a Small Hall (Move Room). The main hall consists of a stage where we will be presenting guest speakers and silent disco. We have planned for some seating near the stage and 4 rows of saint stall spaces.
The small hall is where we will be hosting yoga, pilates and other activities for young and old. A timetable of these will be made available as we near the day.
The kitchen and toilets are shared, the kitchen is not available for the general public, but you are able to access this as a Saint.
The site plan below shows the layout of the main hall and ‘ballet’ room (aka move room).
You will receive a detailed site plan the week before MOAF to show your allocated space.
-
You have been allocated a space of 2x2m.
The majority of Saints are service-based which is not a standard market/fair experience. For this we encourage you to create meaningful, warm spaces to encourage conversation and comfort for any attending mothers. This is your opportunity to get creative. Something to occupy any children in your space is also always welcome and can be a drawing station or box of toy cars. We will leave the creativity up to you.
Please fill out the form below if you require power at your space and we will set up a powerboard for you. The use of double adaptors are not permitted and any power boards must be surge protected.
A strict note directly from the council: No loose helium balloons, sticky tape, confetti, smoke machines or naked flames e.g. Candles, Oil Burners permitted. If the smoke alarms get set off we are liable for the callout fee so please pay attention to this!
Aesthetics: In order to keep a warm and co-ordinated atmosphere, we encourage (if you have) to bring along a tablecloth in natural/beige tone to dress your Saint table. No bright coloured tablecloths permitted. If you do not have, please contact us and we endeavour to source something for you. We will be providing Saint Majella decorative touches on the tables including flowers if there is room to do so.
-
A schedule of activities on offer for guests will be uploaded to our website once finalised. This is currently being developed.
-
2 x fridges are available for use in the kitchen. Should you require to store any food for your own consumption, please ensure it is clearly labeled. There is also a hot water urn and tea and coffee making facilities available for you.
-
Please take the time to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork before the fair. We have been advised by Mornington Peninsula Shire that the following is necessary for any Saint wishing to sell any food (fresh, cooked or packaged etc) and beverage providers at MOAF. Any food-based business should already have the first two of these.
A food business registration with Mornington Peninsula Shire
A food handling registration certificate
Registration with FoodTrader https://foodtrader.vic.gov.au/ (https://foodtrader.vic.gov.au/) for selling produt off-site (ie not where the food/drink is produced. This is a free registration.
If you are unsure what documentation you need please contact the Mornington Peninsula Shire Environmental Health Team on 1300 850 600 for more information.
Once you have the proper documentation please provide this to Saint Majella via email (hello@saintmajella.com) and also make sure you have copies on market day as Health Officers may ask to site them.
Saint Majella holds no responsibility for loss of trade if proper documentation is not held. No refunds will be available for loss of trade if current documentation is not held.
-
Public liability insurance is held by Saint Majella for any incidents arising in the common areas of MOAF including corridors, walkways, stage, front and rear entrances, toilets etc.
This does not, unfortunately, cover any incidents that occur in each Saint’s space. As such, if your current insurance does not cover off-site events, we recommend the purchase of public liability insurance for the day. There are many options for “stall holder insurance” via the web.
-
If you are running late on the day please text Melissah on 0419 428 198 by 8:30am.
-
You are more than welcome to leave your car in the car park for the duration of the fair. We would, however, appreciate leaving as many spots for incoming mothers and parents. So if you arrive early and don’t mind parking further away, that would be helpful.
-
MOAF is a plastic bag free market! So if you’re planning to offer bags please ensure they comply.
BYO water bottle and coffee cup to reduce waste on day.
-
Strictly no dogs or other animals are allowed at MOAF at any time. This is a strict condition of our lease and must be upheld. Furthermore, children will be in attendance and this will further ensure their safety.
-
Pack up can commence from 2:45pm but official closing time is 3pm. We have a strict vacate time of 4pm and have been asked to lock the doors behind us by this time. And so we shall be running around like headless chickens no doubt.
-
Being largely indoors, MOAF is an all weather event. However, in the event of extreme weather or other force majeure circumstances we will contact you via your nominated email address to let know of any cancellations or reduced hours. It is unlikely a decision will be made before midday on the day prior to the fair to ensure we have the most up to date weather reports.
Keep an eye on our social media pages for instant updates or changes otherwise await direct contact.
-
